Barn Wedding Venue Stats, 2026

We mapped every barn and farm wedding venue in America — 8,507 venues with 991,635 reviews between them. Here's where the barns actually are, which states have the most venues per resident, what venues say their packages cost, and how big the biggest barns really get. The Barn Wedding Cost Index

What does a barn wedding venue actually cost? We collected the package and rental prices venues state on their own websites — 632 venues so far — and computed the median by state. Nationally the median stated package price is $2,000. The priciest state with enough data to publish is Washington at a median $4,800; the most affordable is Illinois at $500. These are the venues' own stated prices, not estimates — always confirm current pricing with the venue.

#StateMedian stated package priceVenues with stated pricing
1 Washington $4,800 23
2 Oregon $3,800 5
3 Kansas $3,700 10
4 Minnesota $3,500 5
5 Pennsylvania $3,490 19
6 Montana $3,250 6
7 Tennessee $3,000 31
8 Indiana $2,750 12
9 Texas $2,500 75
10 Colorado $2,500 9

13 Alabama $2,050 14

A state only gets a row with 5+ venues stating a price, and counts grow as our crawls continue. Full table: barn-venue-cost-index.csv.

Which states have the most barn wedding venues per capita?

Nationally there are about 25.1 barn wedding venues per million residents. The per-capita crown goes to Vermont at 81.7 venues per million — 53 venues for a state of 0.6 million people — with Montana at 59.8 and Wyoming at 52.8 close behind. Barn venues follow farmland and countryside more than population: the states with working farms, rolling hills, and a drive-to-the-country wedding tradition keep the most barns dressed in string lights per resident. At the other end, Hawaii has just 3.5 per million.

#StateVenuesPer million people
1 Vermont 53 81.7
2 Montana 68 59.8
3 Wyoming 31 52.8
4 Maine 72 51.2
5 New Hampshire 71 50.4
6 Tennessee 326 45.1
7 South Dakota 40 43.3
8 Idaho 83 41.5
9 Alabama 209 40.5
10 Kentucky 179 39
11 Kansas 115 38.7
12 North Carolina 417 37.8
13 Missouri 232 37.1
14 Iowa 120 37
15 Arkansas 111 35.9

By raw count the big states still win — Texas has 782, California has 728, North Carolina has 417 — but per resident, Vermont is the easiest place in America to find a barn for your big day. This table is downloadable: barn-venues-per-capita.csv.

America's barn wedding capitals

The towns and cities with the most barn wedding venues in the directory, by raw count. The list looks nothing like a normal "most of X" city ranking — barn venues cluster around small countryside towns within driving distance of big metros, not in the metros themselves. Top of the list: Snohomish, WA (19) · Miami, FL (18) · Austin, TX (14).

The full ranking — raw counts, per-capita, and how the big cities compare — lives on the Barn Wedding Capitals page.

The biggest barn venues in America

Of the venues that state a guest capacity on their own website (1,189 so far), the median barn holds 200 guests (average 217). At the top end, the biggest stated capacity in the directory is 1,000 guests at Upper Las Virgenes Ranch in Calabasas, CA. Capacity is always the venue's own stated number — confirm with the venue when you tour.

The wedding-weekend states: venues you can stay at

At least 2,244 venues (26%) offer on-site lodging — farmhouses, cabins, and bridal cottages that turn the wedding into a whole weekend. The state-by-state map, ranked by lodging venues per resident, is the Wedding-Weekend Map; the door-to-door list is the venues with lodging directory.

America's densest barn-venue cities

Barn venues per 100k residents, cities over 50k population. Raw counts favor small countryside towns, so this table is the mid-size lens — the cities over 50k where barn weddings cluster hardest per resident.

Inside the venues

Of the 8,507 venues in the directory, 8,275 are definitive barn, farm, and ranch wedding venues — that's what they call themselves — with the rest being event barns, orchards, and countryside estates whose grounds earn them a place here. From our venue-website and review mining so far (these counts are floors — they require evidence, and enrichment is ongoing):

Small-town destination venues worth the drive

Methodology: venue counts from our continuously maintained national directory (public business listings, filtered to genuine barn, farm, and ranch wedding venues); attribute counts (on-site lodging, all-inclusive packages, outside catering, climate control) mined from venue websites and couples' reviews; package prices and guest capacities are always the venue's own stated numbers, never estimates; population = US Census 2024 estimates. Per-capita = venues ÷ state population × 1,000,000. Want the dataset for a story? Email us — we're happy to cut the numbers by state or metro, with attribution.
