The Wedding-Weekend Map (2026)

Where can the wedding become the whole weekend? We mined the websites and couples' reviews of 8,507 US barn wedding venues for hard lodging evidence — a farmhouse that sleeps the wedding party, cabins on the property, a bridal cottage — and found at least 2,244 venues with confirmed on-site lodging, 26.4% of the directory. Rolled up by state, a clear map appears. Updated 2026-07-16.

Wedding-weekend states, per resident

The headline: Vermont is the wedding-weekend capital of America per resident, with 26 venues confirmed to sleep guests on the property — 40.1 per million people. By raw count the leaders are Texas (247), California (194), North Carolina (116). Deepest bench relative to its venue count: South Dakota, where 50% of all barn venues show lodging evidence.

Counts are floors, not ceilings: a venue only lands in the lodging column when its own website or its couples' reviews prove it. The real number is higher — the evidence just hasn't surfaced yet for every venue.

Methodology: a venue counts as having confirmed on-site lodging when its website or couples' reviews contain concrete evidence — a farmhouse, cabins, cottages, or guest rooms on the property (mined and re-verified with each crawl of our 8,507-venue national directory). Because the flag requires proof, every number on this page is a floor ("at least N"). Population = US Census 2024 state estimates; per-million = confirmed venues ÷ state population × 1,000,000. Share = confirmed venues ÷ all directory venues in that state. More data: the state-by-state stats hub and America's barn wedding capitals.
