US Cities With the Fewest Barn Wedding Venues (2026)

The flip side of the barn wedding capitals: big American cities with barely a barn inside the city limits. These are the 30 most populous US cities (100,000+ residents) with zero or one barn venue in our 8,507-venue national directory — 13.7 million people between them. In this niche that's expected — barns live in the countryside — but it tells you exactly which metros' couples are driving the farthest for their day. Updated 2026-07-16.

The list

Top of the table: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — 1,573,916 people, a single barn venue inside city limits. The biggest city with none at all is Denver, Colorado (729,019 residents — 19 of the 30 cities are at zero). If you live in one of these cities, your barn wedding is a drive into the surrounding countryside — start from your state page and look at the small towns ringing the metro.

Read it fairly: counts are within city limits, and barn venues are rural by nature. A zero here doesn't mean the metro has no barn weddings — it means every one of them happens in the small towns outside the line.

Methodology: venue counts from our continuously maintained national directory of 8,507 barn and farm wedding venues (public business listings, filtered to genuine wedding-capable venues). City universe = incorporated places and consolidated city-governments with 100,000+ residents, US Census 2024 estimates; census names normalized to everyday names (Nashville-Davidson → Nashville) so no city is falsely flagged. Venues are matched to cities by the city name on their address. Refreshed with each re-crawl — cities graduate off this list when a venue opens. Browse what nearby markets look like instead: venues by state, or the full stats hub.
