From the reviews
I’ve been photographing weddings in the Charleston area since 2015, and the Island House is certainly one of my favorite venues to work at. The space is nestled in amazing greenery, has waterfront views, and a spacious lawn for enjoying the outdoors when the sunset puts on a show for you and your wedding guests.
Absolutely beautiful wedding venue! We loved how it is right on the water - we had a huge rainstorm that cleared up an hour before the ceremony and then gave way to the most beautiful sunset on the water I have ever seen. Some guests even saw 2 dolphins in the river before the ceremony!
We got married on November 22, 2025 at The Island House, and we are so happy we chose it as our venue. Nestled right on the Stono River, it is truly a hidden gem. My husband and I are Charleston natives, and I had never even heard of this venue before we started touring, but it ended up being absolutely perfect for us.
The island house is such a special venue. We loved having our ceremony on the waterfront and the reception in their tent. The house is beautiful with ample space for both the guys and girls to get ready. We loved having a space and kitchen to store food and drinks while getting ready.
Getting married at The Island House
The Island House comes up for weddings — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you'd actually get married — a barn that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you'll want to walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring your real questions: the rain plan (where does the ceremony move?), the catering and bar policy, the music curfew, and exactly what's included with the rental — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Popular dates at barn venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
Corporate events & private parties at The Island House
Reviews and the venue's own info mention corporate events, retreats, or private parties at The Island House — barn venues often have real weekday availability since weddings claim the weekends. A quick call answers the three things that matter: weekday and off-season rates, whether the space works for your headcount and A/V needs, and what catering is allowed. If your event lands on a Friday or Saturday in wedding season, ask early.
