From the reviews
The Old Thompson Barn at River Valley Ranch was an excellent choice to host our daughter’s wedding! Aimee and Brian were incredibly accommodating and easy to work with. We set up the ceremony outside on the lawn with Mount Sopris as the backdrop. We had a clear tent set up on part of the lawn for dinner.
The Old Thompson Barn is one of those venues that perfectly captures the charm of a Colorado mountain wedding. We've had the pleasure of DJing several weddings here, and it's always one of our favorite places to return to. With its historic barn, breathtaking views of Mt.
The most beautiful location for a Wedding! You simply cannot beat the backdrop of Mount Sopris. Comfortably, you can fit 200 guests by utilizing the lawn for ceremony, a tent for dinner, and the barn for dancing.
Easily one of my favorite wedding venues in Colorado. Photographed a wedding here in September and it was simply stunning. The barn provides a beautiful, intimate-feeling reception space and is on the most gorgeous property with a view of Mt. Sopris. Would photograph another wedding here in a heartbeat!
Getting married at Old Thompson Barn
Old Thompson Barn comes up for weddings — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you'd actually get married — a barn that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you'll want to walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring your real questions: the rain plan (where does the ceremony move?), the catering and bar policy, the music curfew, and exactly what's included with the rental — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Popular dates at barn venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
Corporate events & private parties at Old Thompson Barn
Reviews and the venue's own info mention corporate events, retreats, or private parties at Old Thompson Barn — barn venues often have real weekday availability since weddings claim the weekends. A quick call answers the three things that matter: weekday and off-season rates, whether the space works for your headcount and A/V needs, and what catering is allowed. If your event lands on a Friday or Saturday in wedding season, ask early.
