The setting
“During our stay we enjoyed a yoga class on the ranch with a local instructor, a guided farm tour with farm owner Pam, and were able to observe the farm’s annual alpaca shearing.”
“My fiance and I visited the ranch for a weekend getaway to run away from the stresses of our never ending house maintenance issues.”
Amenities couples mention
“My husband and I stayed in the Out of Africa Safari tent and our other family members stayed in the remainder of yurts, tents and cabins across the property.”
“Tent had outdooor furniture on the front porch area and a fire pit table which was a nice touch.”
What couples say again and again
“They had the best time and I could really see that Merrill knows exactly what she is doing in her work with such large beautiful animals, and with small beginner children.”
From the reviews
I came to my first lesson with Merrill hoping to find a teacher and place aligned with my values—something beyond a transactional experience, where I could truly connect with and learn about horses. What I received was far more than I imagined.
We spent the weekend here and cannot say enough good things about the ranch! The farmhouse was lovely and cozy, with a full kitchen so we could prepare simple meals. We made breakfast with the eggs and sausages from the ranch and they were so delicious. The ranch is so quiet at night.
Cedar Ridge Ranch is truly an amazing place. I don’t know if I have stayed anywhere that I have enjoyed more. My family and I went this summer for vacation. My family does not include children, which is what a lot of people seem to go for.
My sister and I stayed in the stargazer tent over a weekend in August for a music festival in Aspen. Location was great - just a short jaunt away from Carbondale but you felt "way out" in the wilderness. This is glamping - so rustic but comfortable. We loved waking up to the horses and seeing the dogs.
Getting married at Cedar Ridge Ranch
Cedar Ridge Ranch comes up for weddings, going by their listing and couples’ reviews. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you'd actually get married — a barn that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you'll want to walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring your real questions: the rain plan (where does the ceremony move?), the catering and bar policy, the music curfew, and exactly what's included with the rental — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Popular dates at barn venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
Corporate events & private parties at Cedar Ridge Ranch
Reviews and the venue's own info mention corporate events, retreats, or private parties at Cedar Ridge Ranch — barn venues often have real weekday availability since weddings claim the weekends. A quick call answers the three things that matter: weekday and off-season rates, whether the space works for your headcount and A/V needs, and what catering is allowed. If your event lands on a Friday or Saturday in wedding season, ask early.
