Attending a friend's wedding here on a Sunday afternoon, Sweeney Barn was a great venue. It's just off the highway, making it an easy drive from D.C. There's spacious parking. The ceremony was on the bottom floor and the reception up a beautiful staircase. There are clean restrooms and strong AC.
I mean... what's not to love about Sweeney Barn?? As a wedding photographer, I've had the pleasure of photographing at some awesome wedding venues. Sweeney Barn stands out for it's extremely hospitable and professional staff along with being a very clean and well kept venue.
We had our wedding at Sweeney Barn on 10/10/2025, and it was absolutely amazing! The venue is perfect, offering different options for the ceremony and cocktail hour, along with a beautiful space for the reception. The staff is incredible.
EDIT: Well it's been four years since my initial review and after nearly a dozen weddings there I can confirm, Sweeney Barn and their team are phenomenal. So easy to work with, and so many incredible moments have been made there!
Getting married at Sweeney Barn
Sweeney Barn comes up for weddings — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you'd actually get married — a barn that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you'll want to walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring your real questions: the rain plan (where does the ceremony move?), the catering and bar policy, the music curfew, and exactly what's included with the rental — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Popular dates at barn venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
