From the reviews
I love this place. My extended family has staying here since it was built, 7 generations. In recent years, the historic Great Room has been partitioned in half for “private events.
Great spot for a family spring break vacations. Close to three different state parks. Rooms are clean and staff is friendly. One of the highlights of our stay was a guided tour though the Starved Rock park. Our guide, Aaron, was super knowledgeable about the park and local history. Well worth the $$
There's a natural rustic quality that I appreciated about the Lodge and cabins. Rooms are clean and decorated in the style you would expect in a park setting. The Lodge itself is on par with national park lodges, which means it is gorgeous. Cabins offer fireplaces and firewood is provided for your enjoyment.
Megan was absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived, she was very hands-on and attentive. She happily let us sit outside and made sure we were comfortable. She brought out all of our food and drinks promptly and checked on us often without being overbearing.
Getting married at Starved Rock Lodge & Conference Center
Starved Rock Lodge & Conference Center comes up for weddings — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you'd actually get married — a barn that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you'll want to walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring your real questions: the rain plan (where does the ceremony move?), the catering and bar policy, the music curfew, and exactly what's included with the rental — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Popular dates at barn venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
Corporate events & private parties at Starved Rock Lodge & Conference Center
Reviews and the venue's own info mention corporate events, retreats, or private parties at Starved Rock Lodge & Conference Center — barn venues often have real weekday availability since weddings claim the weekends. A quick call answers the three things that matter: weekday and off-season rates, whether the space works for your headcount and A/V needs, and what catering is allowed. If your event lands on a Friday or Saturday in wedding season, ask early.
