Had a great time❣ Wonderful house tour and history museum. We got there just in time for the 2pm tour and the had a second tour at 3pm. Just a beautiful home. They let me take lots of photos 😊 Didn't get a chance to visit the Barn this time but hopefully next time.
Visit once a year for the Santa Barbara Old-time Fiddlers Convention. This year (2019) I helped demo instruments at the Instrument Petting Zoo. Lovely venue with a large lawn area and lots of shade trees. I have not visited the historic house yet, but will make the trip again soon to do so.
Great venue for outside summer concerts. A number of large lawns with both shade and sun. Wine and beer and food trucks for sale but it runs out fast. A couple of parking lots. Including overflow and handicap.
A hidden neighborhood gem! Great summer concerts on their picnic grounds, local community events, weddings, etc, all while preserving the historic significance of the site. Bravo!
Getting married at Rancho La Patera & Stow House c.1873
Rancho La Patera & Stow House c.1873 comes up for weddings — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you'd actually get married — a barn that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you'll want to walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring your real questions: the rain plan (where does the ceremony move?), the catering and bar policy, the music curfew, and exactly what's included with the rental — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Popular dates at barn venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
