From the reviews
Our experience with Prairie Guest House was nothing short of exceptional. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention recently hosted a training in the area, and Prairie Guest House generously hosted two of our out-of-state trainers.
This was our second time to stay on our way from TN to Chicago. Both times we were exhausted and frazzled from an emotional trip. Staying at Prairie Guest House was soothing and restorative. It feels like home and the owners are extremely kind and personable.
Our stay at Prairie Guest House was truly special. The serene environment made it the perfect place to rest and recharge, and waking up to a home-cooked breakfast every morning felt like such a treat. John and Karen are wonderful hosts. They're warm, kind, and genuinely welcoming.
My boyfriend and I stayed here over Valentine’s weekend (Feb 13–15) and had a great experience. I accidentally left my ring on the nightstand, and when my boyfriend reached out, they responded super fast and were so kind helping get it back to me.
Getting married at Prairie Guest House
Prairie Guest House comes up for weddings — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you'd actually get married — a barn that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you'll want to walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring your real questions: the rain plan (where does the ceremony move?), the catering and bar policy, the music curfew, and exactly what's included with the rental — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Popular dates at barn venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
Corporate events & private parties at Prairie Guest House
Reviews and the venue's own info mention corporate events, retreats, or private parties at Prairie Guest House — barn venues often have real weekday availability since weddings claim the weekends. A quick call answers the three things that matter: weekday and off-season rates, whether the space works for your headcount and A/V needs, and what catering is allowed. If your event lands on a Friday or Saturday in wedding season, ask early.
