From the reviews
It’s impossible to know where to begin. Do you start with the ridiculously adorable alpacas lazily meandering in every corner of the property? Do you begin with the 7-acres of ever-changing gardens and walkways and pathways and reflecting ponds and rivers and pagodas and bridges and roses?
Oakwood Gardens may very well be paradise on Earth. Our family enjoyed a seven-week country getaway during the summer of 2020 in the beautifully appointed three-bedroom accommodation (one of five accommodations on the 70+ acres Safley farm) located in the renovated century-old barn above the Quechua Benefit gift shop.
I am an Event Planner, and I just had the opportunity to execute a wedding at Oakwood Gardens this past weekend, and I can't tell you how unbelievable this place is. The ground are outstanding, owners are extremely kind and communicative, and our weekend here was a huge success.
We had the great pleasure of staying longer term at Julie and Michael's retreat guest house. It was obvious to us how much Julie cared for the happiness and comfort of her guests, down to all the tiniest details. The kitchenette was fully equipped with every appliance you might need and the place was spotless and cozy.
Getting married at Oakwood Gardens
Oakwood Gardens comes up for weddings — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you'd actually get married — a barn that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you'll want to walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring your real questions: the rain plan (where does the ceremony move?), the catering and bar policy, the music curfew, and exactly what's included with the rental — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Popular dates at barn venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
Corporate events & private parties at Oakwood Gardens
Reviews and the venue's own info mention corporate events, retreats, or private parties at Oakwood Gardens — barn venues often have real weekday availability since weddings claim the weekends. A quick call answers the three things that matter: weekday and off-season rates, whether the space works for your headcount and A/V needs, and what catering is allowed. If your event lands on a Friday or Saturday in wedding season, ask early.
