The setting
“The reception in the rustic barn was the perfect capstone: warm, full of character, and exactly the kind of atmosphere we'd always imagined.”
“In addition to its historical significance, we loved that there is only one wedding per weekend, so we could decorate the day before and I decorate the day after.”
“The ceremony took place beside their stunning garden, followed by cocktail hour on the lawn with a beautiful view of the Hudson River.”
“The grounds are gorgeous, and though the odd entrance through a townhome complex was a bit confusing (the speed bumps don't all have the best paint, so slow down!”
What couples say again and again
“The grounds are gorgeous, and though the odd entrance through a townhome complex was a bit confusing (the speed bumps don't all have the best paint, so slow down!”
“Our day-of coordinator, Gabe, was especially attentive to any and all of our needs, making things so much easier on our end.”
From the reviews
Such a lovely setting. The tour includes the homestead, barn & heritage garden. Sits high on a hill with views of the Hudson River. Truly a hidden gem of the Hudson Valley. My Garden Club did some plantings on the estate and in exchange, they allowed us to picnic on their grounds.
We have planned and designed a few weddings here and love the ability to completely customize the venue. The views are spectacular and gorgeous for any wedding ceremony.
We were married at Mount Gulian over Labor Day weekend 2022 and had about 100 guests and a live band. We booked it in October 2021. Between then and the wedding, the docent changed. We were nervous the transition would impact our wedding, but it was very smooth. Overall, we had a magical experience.
Took a brief walk around the grounds after visiting the Madam Brett Homestead, as the house is not open on Saturdays. Beautiful garden, river views and Dutch Barn. The house dates to 1730. Very interested to go back for a house tour! Tours are on the hour.
Getting married at Mount Gulian Historic Site
Mount Gulian Historic Site comes up for weddings — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you'd actually get married — a barn that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you'll want to walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring your real questions: the rain plan (where does the ceremony move?), the catering and bar policy, the music curfew, and exactly what's included with the rental — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Popular dates at barn venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
