From the reviews
We had our wedding there last night 10/13/23 Everyone loved the place, the owner was very helpful and awesome! We had the best time, even though it was raining! I only snagged one photo while setting up.
Amazing place. The little touches make it special. David and Kathy are the best and the venue is everything you need plus. Thank you again for everything.
My family needed a place to hold our annual 4th of July family reunion and feel so incredibly fortunate and blessed that a niece had heard of John's Place between Swisher and Walford. It's close to but not in the city with easy, hard surfaced road access and is very reasonably priced.
Was so honored to be the first Illig to get married at John's Place! I promise you want to book your next event here! The barn is two stories full of antiquities, amenities for your gathering, and huge Jenga and connect four games. They also have a set up for bean bag toss!
Getting married at John's Place
John's Place comes up for weddings, going by their listing and couples’ reviews. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you'd actually get married — a barn that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you'll want to walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring your real questions: the rain plan (where does the ceremony move?), the catering and bar policy, the music curfew, and exactly what's included with the rental — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Popular dates at barn venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
Corporate events & private parties at John's Place
Reviews and the venue's own info mention corporate events, retreats, or private parties at John's Place — barn venues often have real weekday availability since weddings claim the weekends. A quick call answers the three things that matter: weekday and off-season rates, whether the space works for your headcount and A/V needs, and what catering is allowed. If your event lands on a Friday or Saturday in wedding season, ask early.
