From the reviews
Forest Home Farms Historical Park is a hidden gem, kid friendly, especially if you have kids under 8. Managed by City of San Ramon. Free to visit. It is a working farm. Able to see sheep (lambs), goats, horses, chickens, and ducks close up via a chain link fence. You can walk around the grounds.
Great place to bring kids. Great place to educate kids. Makes a good field trip for school. You can learn about old tools that we used to farm. There is a barn full of tractors. They have horses, chickens, and lamb. I had a fun time going and would recommend you bring your kids. Every year they have a little event.
If you are a history fan, you should visit this place. Besides getting cose to farm animals and lifestyle, you can also learn how life was back when no lights or internet were available.
In my early 20's I lived at Mrs. Boone's Ranch. From 1984 to 1992. Mrs. Boone was a lovely lady. She was a wealth of knowledge about not only the local History but Hollywood history also. I would sit with her on the back porch while she served me ice cream and cookies. She grew up amongst the Orange Groves of L.
Getting married at Forest Home Farms Historic Park
Forest Home Farms Historic Park comes up for weddings — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you'd actually get married — a barn that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you'll want to walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring your real questions: the rain plan (where does the ceremony move?), the catering and bar policy, the music curfew, and exactly what's included with the rental — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Popular dates at barn venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
