From the reviews
This restaurant is located outside the town of Seymour Indiana highway 50. The food was well presented and delicious prepared fresh. The rustic outside look does not prepare you for what waits inside. It is well lit with a lot of outside light from the windows that are strategically placed.
What a lovely place! One of my favorite things….we were asked if our cell phones were off or on vibrate! Do you know how nice it is to not hear phones ringing etc. great atmosphere, wonderful/kind staff & the food was delicious & reasonably priced. The decor was so adorable & welcoming.
What a beautiful place! The atmosphere is exactly what we were looking for - quiet, relaxing, refreshing. The food was excellent. We already are planning on coming back & telling others of our wonderful experience!
10/10/20 We were looking for a bakery and stumbled upon this place in between Seymour and North Vernon just off 50. Talk about a grand place in such a small building. The feeling when you walk in is sheer elegance. The bakery was quaint and perfect! The layout and decor brings you to a time of an old candy shop.
Getting married at Batar
Batar comes up for weddings — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see it at the time of day you'd actually get married — a barn that glows at golden hour can feel very different at noon, and you'll want to walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring your real questions: the rain plan (where does the ceremony move?), the catering and bar policy, the music curfew, and exactly what's included with the rental — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Popular dates at barn venues book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
Corporate events & private parties at Batar
Reviews and the venue's own info mention corporate events, retreats, or private parties at Batar — barn venues often have real weekday availability since weddings claim the weekends. A quick call answers the three things that matter: weekday and off-season rates, whether the space works for your headcount and A/V needs, and what catering is allowed. If your event lands on a Friday or Saturday in wedding season, ask early.
